Beschreibung
Die Trauben kommen von 30 bis 60 Jahre alten Reben, die auf Schieferböden stehen und biodynamisch bewirtschaftet werden. Der Ertrag liegt bei 20 bis 30 Hektolitern pro Hektar und die Lese erfolgt manuell in kleinen, 30 kg fassenden Kästen. Die Trauben werden größtenteils entrappt und das Befüllen der Fässer erfolgt durch Schwerkraft. Der Wein wird spontan, ohne Zusatz von Hefen in Edelstahl- und Betontanks, über drei bis vier Wochen vergoren und der Ausbau findet über 24 Monate in Barriques, von denen 10% neu sind, statt. Die Abfüllung erfolgt ohne Schönung oder Filtration.

Slightly more polished and fine, the 2010 Faugeres Jadis comes from south-facing slopes and is a blend of 50% Carignan, 30% Syrah and 20% Grenache that spends 24-26 months in 10% new barrels. Layered and perfumed on the nose, with fabulous plum pit, leather, violets, assorted spices and dusty minerality, it is full-bodied, seamless and elegant on the palate, with impressive polish to its tannin. Concentrated with excellent texture and length, it will have 10-15 years of longevity. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to meet with winemaker Didier Barral during my travels through the region, but I was able to taste through a few of his 2010s back in Colorado. Count me a fan of this estate. I love the richness, as well as a certain wildness that these wine provide, and they never seem heavy, rustic or cumbersome. In addition, I’ve had his releases back to 2001 and they age beautifully. He’s easily one of the top producers in Faugeres and don’t miss an opportunity to try his wines. 94/100
